The Japan Customs Declaration is an obligatory requirement for all passengers entering the country, including Japanese citizens and permanent residents.
The electronic Japan Customs Declaration was introduced to simplify the entry procedure for Japan and reduce waiting times upon arrival at customs/immigration control in the country.

To submit the online form, you must have a valid passport, email address, and a credit or debit card.
You need to fill out the Japan Customs Declaration with basic personal information, passport details, and travel details such as flight number and date of arrival in Japan.
All the details provided on the application form must be exactly as they appear on your passport.
Once you have submitted the online form, all notifications and updates will be sent by email.
The processing time is within 1 day, however, some applications may take longer to process, up to 2 days.

On the online Japan Customs Declaration form, you have to declare if you are bringing certain items and amounts of currency into Japan.
Once the form is processed, you’ll receive a confirmation via email. This will contain a QR Code that you can present on arrival in Japan to expedite your entry through customs.
